As we know most of MP3 players introduced out after Windows 98 was no longer produced, many are only supportable with new operating systems. Check the system requirements mentioned on the product (mp3) packaging before buying an MP3 player to ensure it would work with your computer.

1. Connect your MP3 player to one of the computer's USB ports with the help of player's USB device cable. Make the MP3 player turn on, and then wait  for the computer to connect that a new USB device or accessory has been connected.
2. Insert the installation CD of MP3, and wait for the auto run program to bring up the installer. Walk through the installation steps for getting drivers that allow the computer to work with the device. If your MP3 player was not come up with install software, you will require to install the Windows 98 generic "mass storage device" drivers, which would be downloaded from a many of websites.
3. Click on the "My Computer" icon twice. Depends on the software you are installing, you will see whether a new drive letter, or the name of the MP3 player listed on the screen.  It will open the new list by double click on it. You would now be able to watch, delete or add files.

Be sure the MP3 player is listed as supportable with Windows ME or Windows 98. If any of these operating systems are not listed on the MP3 player's packaging, the player would not work properly with Windows ME.

1. Connect one end of the MP3 player's USB cable into the available USB port on the computer. plug the other end to the MP3 player and make the device turn on. Wait a sometime before continuing to ensure the computer has/had a chance to recognize the device.

2. Open the CD drive and put the installation disk into it. Wait for sometime for the autorun feature to load. If it would not load, go to My Computer, then double click on the CD drive. Go through the process of the installer to configure the drivers.

3. Go to My Computer and look through the listed devices. The MP3 player would either appear as a new drive letter or as an independent drive. The listed title would change from one brand to the next. click on the MP3 player two times to access its contents. When you will done, disconnect the USB cable and  start using the MP3 player as  you use normally
