How to install Windows XP on Dell laptop

Dell computers are a hearty bunch, and some important process can make them function faster, like they did when it is purchased. If it has original Microsoft Windows XP CD and this guide, this is all need to begin with the process.
Unplug all external devices like printer, digital camera, MP3 music player, or other device attached to computer.
Place Dell Windows XP recovery CD in the disk drive. (Either CD or DVD drive will run the software).

Restart the computer to get into the Windows XP setup screen. Hit the F12 key as soon as the computer screen starts back up.
choose option 4 when the menu appears.

NOTE: Press the space bar immediately or Windows will start up and will have to repeat these above 3 steps.

Wait for the blue screen that deals with SETUP. In that screen, press the F8 key and do not try the repair option. We are going for a clean install. Then press the ESC key in the corner.
Partition (usually the larger one), (d) for delete (not the FAT32, only NTFS option with the highest volume on it). Press enter to execute your choice.
Press L to complete, and C to create.
Select "new raw format" (Quick format) will work fine.
Continue to Windows setup screen as directed. keep in mind to keep only want 1 partition.
Go to Windows screen where it says "setup is copying files" on your computer. It will take just about an hour to get through this Windows setup on your Dell (or less).
Let the computer restart itself. It will prompt before it restarts.

Take message of the screen, "preparing installation." Once Windows is ready to be set up, follow the on-screen setup prompts for the Internet, time zone, and further customizations.
Then reinstall any device drivers using the blue Dell support CD if they are not installed correctly such as Network cards, wireless internet, USB driver, sound card and more. Always test the computer to make sure that these are working properly.
